Xbox 360 Indie
Xbox 360 Indie Games are available to download from Microsoft’s XBLA Indie Games Channel or from Xbox.com’s marketplace. Made by independent developers using the XNA framework they provide a sometimes refreshing alternative to the usual XBLA output.

I’m not sure whether it counts as having reached critical mass or not, but there’s a fairly nice article on XBLIG over on Wired, going into some of the successes to be found on The Little Service That Could – mostly around a little game featuring z0mb1es. Though it’s a bit of a shame that [...]

The return of the single sentence review, now with added words from the xnPlay staffers at the end. Amazing.

Personally, I’m of the opinion that the most noble crusade that the internet has ever embarked upon wasn’t the Fairplay Campaign to get the prices of games dropped to a reasonable level, it wasn’t any of the “let’s prod Valve with a stick for daring to release a sequel in a reasonable space of time [...]

[Regular readers are probably familiar with the comments from juice - who also happens to run his own XBLIG review site, xboxindiegames.co.uk. We've now asked him to formally contribute his wit and wisdom to xnPlay. Whilst his regular "best of the week" choices will be appearing alongside 9572ad's and my own in the Sunday round [...]

Experiment 12 apes the minimalist platformer style of the peculiarly popular Pixel Man and tries mostly unsuccessfully to inject the atmosphere of Portal into it. It doesn’t stay quite as minimal, giving the blocks a hint of depth and adding more gameplay elements than simply jumping, which serves to make it actually fun to play.

I like music visualizers. I’ve liked them since before there were music visualizers – since I first saw a component equalizer with LED level indicators. While all the fancy visualizers of today make the equalizer display look positively plebian, it does have one advantage – I can tell what it is reacting to.
With the fancy [...]

Experimental format change!
I’ve not ever really been fond of having the alphabetically first three games of the week poking “out the top” onto the front page. So I’m going to drop the whole games list down past the “jump” and fill this space instead by spouting off some opinion. Maybe I can get Bob and/or [...]

It must be the week for titles.
I’m not an RPG man, in fact it’s common knowledge that Orcs bring me out in a rash. Yeah, we try not to talk about it, I’ve been that way for a long time now. So, I have no idea if this looks any good or not!
It’s [...]

I had vowed to pass over anything even remotely TD related to xAD as I SIMPLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THEM. THEY ARE ALIEN THINGS FROM THE PLANET XAG.
However, when Elbert Perez sent us a lovely note with a video in, how could I say no? This is his latest bag of trickthings, it’s tower defence [...]
