About

xnPlay is dedicated to bringing you news, honest views, reviews and previews of games featured on Microsoft’s Xbox360 Indie Games Service.

CONTACT US

Want to see your game featured here or just have some feedback to offer? Get in touch with us.

You can drop us a line via the medium of email by dropping a nod to xnplay@googlemail.com. Due to the amount of mail we receive, we try and get back to as many folks as possible but it’s not always possible. Rest assured, we do read everything that comes our way and appreciate the time you take to send stuff our way.

If you’re requesting a full review from the site we accept codes and can run .ccgames or PC versions so there’s no need to offer us cashmoneys or points. Feel free to offer up a time limited build specifically for review if need be. We truly believe that marketing on a low budget is difficult enough without having to palm over money to journalists and strongly encourage people not to send us cash or points.

Help improve awareness of your game by sending us preview videos, screenshots or preview builds. We’ll happily take a look at any early stuff and we’re happy to help get the word out.

Remember. The more information you can send our way the more we might be interested in reviewing your game. Send us screenshots, send us videos, help us to help you. Don’t just send us a generic press release or a code – sell your game to us and make us want to sell it to the public.

For more tips, see Michael Rose’s excellent guide for contacting websites and journalists to which we contributed our missives.

WHAT’S YOUR REVIEWING POLICY?

We believe in being as up front and honest with our game reviews. Where we see good, we praise it. Where we see bad, we frown. Where we see potential, we try and discuss it. We’re not out to snark at games (although there’s moments where we do, we’re only human), we’re not out to take bungs (after all, who’d pay us anyway?) – we’re only here to run through the many releases on the Indie Games Service and tell you, the readers, our verdict. Feel free to disagree (politely, of course), feel free to discuss the games and your own experiences with the game in our comments sections.

WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THESE GAMES?

Well, that’s easy. Providing you’re the fine owner of an Xbox360 – as of November 19th 2008, you should be able to access a new Community Games segment in the marketplace. These games are created by a bunch of fine Indie chaps in the coding environment that’s known as XNA. There’s demo versions available for every game and they start from as little as 80 MS Points.

I’VE READ YOUR NEWS PIECE ON A GAME BUT CAN’T FIND IT

Sometimes games get pulled for various reasons. Sorry!

XNA?

Well, why not? XNA isn’t just for creating games for the 360, however that’s the focus of our site. Perhaps in time we’ll expand to encompass the rich world of PC and Zune development but for now, we’re going to concentrate on the 360.

CAN I WRITE MY OWN GAMES AND GET THEM ON THE 360?

Why yes, of course you can. And when you do, we’ll gladly write about them here. To find out more about joining the XNA Creators Club, go here.
