Delayed for my brother’s wedding, from the darkness fly these one-sentence looks at last week’s IG releases.

Astero Defender
Oddly molasses-mired twin-stick shooter that plays like a non-scrolling horizontally scrolling shooter. 80 Points.

Astro Taxi
XBLIG’s very own Space Taxi remake (like Lunar Lander, with fares.) 240 Points.

Fireworks Screensaver
Bland, soundless screensaver that doesn’t manage to get the entire menu on screen. 80 Points.

Jake’s Room
When Senior Projects Attack! 80 Points.

MoleGame
Reasonable, if simple, twin-stick mole whacking game. 80 Points.

On A Roll
Imagine Sonic swallowed his feet and sprouted polka dots and was indie. 240 Points.

Sky-Defender
Who would’ve thought adding dozens of bullets and removing the advancing behaviour of the aliens would make Space Invaders boring? 80 Points.

Tartaros
Incredibly stiff FPS wherein you literally “knock down a lot of monsters”. 240 Points.

VectorForce
Uniquely combining weapon systems are cool, but too many buttons here. 80 Points.

War Ships
Effects-laden Battleship variant. 240 Points.

Brother’s wedding? Priorities man, priorities
You have some nerve.
You mean it’s NOT HERE!? WTF d00d? O_O
Fixed!.
Slightly disappointed by On A Roll. I’m not a platformer fan, but the idea of controlling a rolling ball requiring a bit of skill appealed. Then I tried it and found you just stick to slopes. A missed opportunity.
And yeah, the multiple buttons on Vector Force were unwelcome as the game had some decent ideas. Unnecessarily overcomplicated controls are something of a recurring theme in XBIG titles.
Are you looking for something more like Plasma Spheres or Zoomaroom?
I’ve played pretty much everything and don’t remember Plasma Spheres TBH. Zoomaroom could have been my thing if only there were a few more forgiving levels at the beginning. I just found it too hard to be fun. Yeah I’m shit
No mention of Fishing Girl? Yeah, it was silly and simple, but also loaded with charm. Easily the best Indie Game last week, and $1 well spent.
Try last week
Yes, Fishing Girl was released in Week 44.
MoleGame was the only game on the list I would’ve bought, and it lacks graphics and content, compared to all the others(sad IMO). Tartaros would’ve been decent if it had ANY special effects.
If you want a free full version of Astro Taxi, try one of these codes, who comes first gets it, have fun:
