As you’ll no doubt be aware (if not, why not?) the launch of the rebranded Xbox Indie Games service brings with it a cavalcade of new prices. The lowest tier being the bargaintastic 80 points mark. Naturally, even at 80 points some stuff is still best avoided, but hey, we don’t care about that today. No, sir. What we care about is getting you, dear readers, some of the best titles at a stupidly insane low price.
Pull up a seat as we recommend our top 5 bargains from the service, presented in no particular order. Hit the link after the title to download the game straight to your 360.
Sin Surfing (Download)

A graduate of the TIGS Procedural Generation competition, Sin Surfing is a wonderfully simple, experimental little toy. From the offset the developer has been clear that this was intended to be “Guerilla Freeware”, fully playable within the trial version time limits. Despite that, it was a fine way to spend 200 points but at 80? You’d be crazy not to go there.
Why you should buy: You get to ride a sine wave. How cool is that?
Shed (Download)

It might not look like much from the screenshots, but Shed is a wonderfully hypnotic and relaxing card game. We loved it first time round (ah, I remember the days of writing short reviews well) and at 80 points , we love it even more.
Why you should buy: It’s not the prettiest thing in the world, but it’s darn compulsive..
BeatBlox (Download)

When we last looked at BeatBlox it was but a few tweaks away from gaining one of our coveted Recommended tags. At 80 points though? Pfft, we can’t complain can we? That’s silly money for a great and polished little puzzler.
Why you should buy: It’s inspired by Q? and one of the best block matchers on the service.
Bricks4Ever (Download)

Every service has to have its take on Breakout and Xbox Indie Games has somewhere in the region of 60 gazillion. Ok, I exaggerate and I kid but there’s enough of them to warrant a mumble under your breath every now and then. Bricks4Ever is easily the best of the bunch. My compadre 9572ad was happy enough to slap a recommended tag in place at 200 points, so with a price drop in effect – now’s your chance to snap up a bargain.
Why you should buy: Neon graphics! What?
Ladybird Galaxy (Download)

Ladybird Galaxy was a tough one to recommend given the amount of content vs the price. A little too simple to warrant a spend even at 200 points. It’s drifted to a far nicer place now. It’s a basic arena collect-em-up that’s absolutely cute as buttons and ideal for kids. 80 points? Go for it.
Why you should buy: Far and away the best kids game on the service, now at the right price.

Zoomaroom also got an XNPlay recommendation and it’s now 80 pts. Also, Easy Golf dropped to 240 pts.
am I the only one who finds it funny that after all these games went down in price hoping to get more sales to make up for it, RC Airsim actually pushed their price up 40 points? Just sayin’
Hah! There’s always one. Or more…
