From UrbanDictionary.com:
Missed the boat.
Someone who failed to take advantage of a good opportunity.
I wonder if the folks at ProjectorGames, developer of A Great Easter Egg Hunt were aware of this expression. The fact that they released this game over a week after Easter suggests to me that either they weren’t, or they were hoping people would still be too stuffed full of chocky to care.
Well I’m not a huge chocolate eater, so I noticed the odd timing of this release. If it was released during the middle of the year or some other time it would have been fine but the fact it was released just after Easter tells me that for whatever reason, they missed the Easter boat.
That aside it is a decent little physics-based puzzle platformer where the object of the game is to get the Easter eggs, which are scattered all around the level, to the exit portal. Pretty straight forward stuff really but this type of game can be fun in short bursts.
Word of warning though, this one is heavily geared toward the younger crowd with cutesy wutesy galore (especially the main character who is just slap your mother adorable), sparkleys everywhere, basic puzzles and oh yes…it’s about the Easter Bunny, that’s a dead giveaway right there.
As far as how you go about your sworn duty as the big dog err…bunny of chocolate eggs, well that’s also quite a simple task of pushing objects out of the way, jumping around the level to reach the eggs, some very simple puzzle solving and that’s pretty much it. Your little bunny arms act as both a help and a hindrance, you must use them to push your jumps higher & hook onto platforms and push yourself up but they can also get in the way when you try and squeeze between a couple of walls so you must position them so you can get through.
Though there are no flat out deal breakers, there are things that will leave you scratching your head. The controls in this one I think are another victim of developers trying to do something different but RB as jump and triggers as view changers is just unnatural and it has to be said, unnecessary. The physics are seriously wonky at times, I have had my lil ball of fluff stuck in the environment a couple of times and things just move quite strangely on occasion. The other minor gripe is the presentation, with such a beautiful and fitting presentation everywhere else, the font and the overall presentation go together like Coke and sour cream, not well at all.
On the plus side the music is sensationally cheesy and catchy, fits the tone of the game perfectly.
Any serious gamer would move on immediately and the casual might stick around for a bit but little kids I reckon will just eat this up, no pun intended.
So for those of you with teeny weeny gamer beenies, 200 points is little to pay for a bit of damn peace and quiet!

I did *try* and get it out on time! But someone randomly failing the game for a bug never seen before nor since meant I got stuck in jail for 7 days
It’s ok, I’ve learned my lesson on themed games. OTOH, doesn’t everyone like creme eggs the entire year round?
One thing I’ve noted from a lot of reviews, and *attempted* to communicate, apparently badly, is the difficulty:
The puzzles and levels are NOT simple – they are pitched very much like Lego Starwars. You can complete any level very very easily, with your eyes closed, or if you’re 5. To Ace a level, and thus bank your score, is much much trickier. I wanted to aim it at two levels simultaneously, both the gamer who doesn’t want to get stuck, and the gamer who is after an (optional) challenge.
Must try harder!
Me likey the Creme Eggs!
