Since Microsoft added the ability for Community Games developers to alter their prices, several changes have been made. Here are the ones we’ve spotted:
| Game | Was | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmos | 400 | 200 |
| Easy Golf | 800 | 400 |
| Writer’s Block | 400 | 200 |
| Fireplace | 400 | 200 |
| Tail Gun Charlie | 400 | 200 |
| Retro One | 400 | 200 |
| Drift | 400 | 200 |
| Abstacked | 200 | 400! |
| RPaints | 400 | 200 |
| Crystal Crush | 400 | 200 |
| Bomber Boing | 400 | 200 |
| they keep coming… | ||
| Max The Frog | 400 | 200 |
| Fruit Attack | 400 | 200 |
| Totem | 400 | 200 |
| Memo Stomp | 400 | 200 |
(thanks segarr)
If any of those titles were on your ‘maybe’ list, now they’re twice as attractive. Well, most any of them…

Easy Golf is a steal at that price.
Expect a lot more price reductions now that the sales figures have been released
I think the main problem was marketing rather than price.
But I guess you can look at your conversion rate and figure that one out yourself
If 20,000 people downloaded your game but just 100 purchased, either your game is a little dodgy or it’s overpriced.
“I think the main problem was marketing rather than price.”
Yup, in a lot of cases I concur.
Still, I think from what’s been published so far, they’re pretty respectable figures across the board. Sure, there’s the odd one or two “huh” moments, but overall – it’s pretty much what I expected to see.
“either your game is a little dodgy or it’s overpriced.”
…or both
You are correct fog. Max the Frog just dropped as well.
Haha @ Abstacked. Also, you left off Crystal Crush and Bomber Boing. Was 400 Now 200.
I wonder why he didn’t go straight to 800 points. The game is worth it.
Totem just dropped to 200 points.
Interesting news…does this mean that games over 50Mb can be reduced? Or were all these games that are now 200pts under 50MB to begin with?
I’m looking at picking up Easy Golf…I didn’t pick it up because I have a couple versions of Hot Shots Golf that I rarely play, and knew this would be the same. But considering all the updates given to the game, supporting the developer seems like a good idea (plus I might have some fun with the course editor).
This could change XBCG game pricing from here on out. Games could be priced higher initially, and developers can see how people reacted to that price, and then dropped after that point. For example, say you made a game and were thinking of selling it for 400pts…now, you may want to reconsider and TRY 800pts for the first couple of months, and if people don’t bite, reduce the price to 400pts.
Such a scenario would make someone like me a tad more selective about what I’m buying. If I buy an 800pt game…I’d have to like it so much that I wouldn’t feel jaded if the price halved by month’s end.
The problem with the current wave of price cuts is that I probably won’t buy any 400 point games that are less than 50 MB. Because sooner rather than later they will be 200 points.
Is $2.50 really that important to you? I mean, I totally get that nobody likes feeling as though they wasted money, but it’s only a couple bucks. Wouldn’t be worth waiting, for me, if the game was good enough that I wanted to buy it.
Until they make microtransactions proper microtransactions ie. allowing people to only purchase however many points they need, then yeah, I can see that remaining an issue for quite a few folks.
Fair point. I do wish MS would add another, smaller increment.
I don’t see the price, I see what I get. If I can get two games for the price of one, why should I get only one? Especially since you pretty much don’t know what you get if you buy the full versions because almost no game tells you what exactly you unlock with your purchase. I’m ok with spending 200 points on a game and getting half an hour of fun, if I paid 400 points and got half an hour of content I’d be mad.
Games over 50mb still must be 400 or 800 points, this just lets the developers change the price within the same limits as before.
There is also a 90 day waiting period between price changes.
Colosseum is now down to 400 pts.
One more for the list, DUOtrix is now 200 MSP:

I think Sol Invasion was dropped from 400 to 200 points as well. As did Endless Swarm and Quarx.
Yeah, I just dropped Endless Swarm to 200 Points the other day.
