Weapon Of Choice News

Weapon Of Choice

You’ve heard of Weapon Of Choice no doubt. It was included in our top ten community games of last year after all, and it’s not like it hasn’t had a fair share of well deserved publicity. It’s always good to see a developer getting out there and actively drumming up business for his game in both traditional and more inventive ways. Putting yourself out there is a great way to do it, if at times almost as much a full time job as making the game itself but hopefully, the pay off is worth it in the long term. (Hint: Even something as simple as a press pack is a good starting place as taking screenshots is hecka boring)

Whereas life got between myself and a postmortem late last year for Gamasutra (Sorry Christian!), it would appear that Nathan Fouts, the developer of Weapon Of Choice didn’t fall into my same silly trap (ie. don’t launch a new site when you’re trying to get articles published elsewhere. You’ll never finish them…) and has only gone and got one of the most breathless and entertaining postmortems to be featured on Gamasutra in quite a fair old while. It’s absolutely essential reading for anyone interested in the game creation process, filled with as much energy as you’d expect from the man who made a game that looks like this.

Not content with a great article, Nathan is also running a speed run competition with some rather nifty prizes. Take a look at this piccy to get the gist or y’know, click it to be magically transported to another part of the intertubes where you can read all about it.

Weapon Of Choice Speed Run Competition

Yup, that’s right. Enter a video of you completing the first stage and you can get your grubby mits on some original signed artwork from Weapon Of Choice, some of those MS currency things, tee shirts and even a calender. Now that’s what I call a promotion volume 7.
