Petanque is a game where you throw a ball into a playing field, then try to land other balls as close as possible to it. Heathcliff Huxtable played it in exactly one episode of The Cosby Show. And that’s all I have to say about that.
Petank Party is a game wherein you play the game of petanque alone or with friends, locally or over Live. Except spelled oddly.
One of the most professional games to grace the Community Games lineup, and previously available on PC, Petank Party neatly sidesteps the ESRB and Microsoft’s certifications with this distribution method. I worry that this will become a trend for bigger name studios as well, and the indie spirit will get squeezed out of the Community Games. We shall see.
In any event, if you’re itching for a game of petanque, you can’t go far wrong with this. Easy-to-use controls that don’t dumb down strategy, player customization, slick presentation, ‘magic balls’ or traditional play – these all enhance the package. I do find the player avatars a bit creepy, though.
Kiss the jack for 800 points.
This title was 800 points at the time of writing this review but has since been reduced to 400 Points.

I find this game quite shallow. There seems to be absolutely no skill required to get good throws. Once you figure out how much the balls role after touchdown you can do as many perfect throws as you want. I got bored after winning three rounds, wouldn’t even buy it if it were 400 points.
Thanks xnplay for the fair review we appreciate it.
Pandapadawan: By default the CPU is set to Beginner skill so people that play for the first time dont get frustrated and get used to the game. I suggest you try Amateur or even Pro skill setting for a real challenge.
Game is pretty cool! Love the character animations; they make me laugh out loud. CAT: purrr…
