World Molder is a platform game with a simple premise; you are able to deform the blocks around you in order to get past puzzles. In order to do this, you stop your character and hold the left trigger. This puts you into moulding mode, where all the blocks that make up the level show construction nodes. You can then move your cursor over them and drag the nodes to deform the block.
Although in theory the deformation mechanic could be an interesting take on the 2D platormer, World Molder turns out to be rather a dull experience. The core gameplay consists of finding a block that’s too high to jump over, dragging a chunk of the block out to make a spot to jump on and then jumping over the block. That’s pretty much it. The game also introduces keys, which means that you’ve got to make it over the blocks over there before you can make it over the blocks over here and then to the goal.
Presentation is quite poor, with horribly aliased text on the main menu, and swathes of poorly drawn programmer art all over the place making the visual experience well below par, even in comparison to other CC games. Audio-wise, there’s little to recommend, with few sound effects and the tutorial narration is amusingly low-grade, with an attempt at a dramatic, deep voice trying to make block deforming exciting.
On the technical side, World Molder is very easy to break. Put your character in a corner and then deform the blocks around him, and watch the collision detection fling him not only out of that block, but across the whole map and into the goal. Not exactly a stable physics engine there.
World Molder is in need of some technical fixes, a makeover and pretty much anything to make it more interesting.
A redeeming feature is that the creator is giving away 1600 MS Points every two months in a high score competition if you submit scores to their website. Of course, for this to be profitable, they’d need to sell at least 8 copies of the game.
World Molder was created by Victor Dettlaff and costs 200 points.
This title was 200 Points at the time of writing this review but has since been reduced to 80 Points.

I especially liked the tutorial text being drawn underneath the lives marker.
Top hole!
For 200 points I think the game is totally worth it. If you get the top scores you get 1600 MS Points. The music is original and so is the concept. Definitely worth checking out.
they are going to bankrupt like that… say, you need like 8 sellings to bulk a 1600ms points prize – then you give it away, and got no profit in that (oh well, MS is prolly ripping like 50% or something from sellings? then it’s like you need 16 people to buy your game in order to give away a 1600ms points o_O).
please don’t do that…
We admit alot of wrong doings with this game. As well, we never actually planned more then half the game this way. Nor did we have or could afford a graphics designer. This was a 3 month dream build play entry
As well – the bugs will be fixed in the next release. We promise World Molder 2 will be very exciting, and fast paced. It will also introduce some revolutionary mechnaics
If you accept the bugs as a tool rather than an annoyance, this game is speedrunning heaven. Utilizing all the game’s glitches is necessary to compete for fast times, and boy can they be utilized. Big complex level 5 can be beaten in under 30 seconds using no keys.
If Laguna and Krazy decide to fix the glitches for their next release, I will miss them, but I will gladly still support and compete in a bigger and better World Molder game!
