Any game with ‘retro’ in the title instantly has me interested. In this case, Monaco 360 attempts to recreate the feeling of speed and thrill that came with playing SpyHunter. Although an admirable effort, it isn’t as fun or balanced as the retro classic.
Monaco 360 gives you control of a Formula1 race car at the bottom of the screen that you move left and right in order to avoid other cars coming from above as you attempt to stay on the vertically scrolling course.
The main problem with Monaco 360 is that the enemy cars simply bounce back and fourth between the two sides of the road, which makes them too easy to avoid when the road is wide. The worse problem comes when the road suddenly narrows to 3 car widths. This makes it very difficult to avoid just one car, and whenever you’re trying to pass another car, inevitably another one comes tumbling from above, making it impossible to avoid a collision and the associated time penalty. With enough practice and careful use of throttle, you may be able to avoid some of these collisions, but the difficulty curve will frustrate you for a long time before that.
With this, the game varies between being quite easy to very hard, which mainly depends on where the randomly placed cars come.
Graphics are, as the title describes, ‘retro’, and although I’ve seen better interpretations of the word ‘retro’, you can’t really fault it for it’s looks.
If you can look past the sometimes frustrating gameplay, you may be able to get some enjoyment out of this 200 point racer.
Monaco 360 was created by twojame.
Note to twojame, you can capture XNA game footage by running on your PC, rather than using Handicam footage of your TV screen; or did you just want to show off that you got into the Street Fighter beta?

Heh, was just about to nip in and post this one and say pretty much the same things.
I was so immensely frustrated and disappointed by this.
Such silly things that stop it from being cracking fun. The tunnel segments (I assume they’re tunnels anyway) make it near impossible to avoid a collision and you’re running on guesswork most of the time and the bounceback from the other cars frustrates and slows the action down too much.
Were those fixed, it’d have a hearty recommendation and definite sale from me.
Looks more like Road Fighter or *checks KLOV* aha, Monaco GP.
I used to love that game before Turbo came out. I’ll have to check this out when I get a chance.
thank you kindly sir for the review here
… This is my first game and your feedback is greatly appreciated.
I do have the opportunity to make adjustments to my game with updates and I’m always looking to improve my work.

Therefore I advise playing ‘Motorhead – ace of spades’ during gameplay
It helps…

This one’s a blast once I learned it. An update made the other cars more ‘fair,’ but what’s the fun in that
Actually I like it before and after the update. Keep it up, Mr. awesome developer!
